Summary

The Transportation Manager is responsible for the overall transportation operations and the transportation services within the Add Ventures program, Residential Services, and Central Office fleet. This position maintains the daily transportation schedule for field trips and activities, and oversees all vehicle maintenance and training of all employees transporting persons served. The Transportation Manager ensures vehicles and employees meet all safety and compliance requirements in providing reliable transportation to persons served.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Renews and distributes van registrations and insurance cards, maintains a file of van logs as submitted, and approves vehicle repairs issues. Responsible for the management and distribution of vehicle keys.
  • Conducts audits regularly to ensure agency vehicles are operating properly and well-maintained.
  • Manages transportation routes by monitoring each route's duration, integrating new participants into routes as requested, and requesting additional vehicles and resources as needed.
  • Collaborates with managers to ensure new van drivers are trained and follow proper procedures when operating agency vans, including lifts and wheelchair hooks.
  • Supports the Transportation Coordinator in preparing vehicles each day ensuring each vehicle has all necessary supplies.
  • Oversees the development of transportation routes. Implements and manages routing software.
  • Negotiates, authorizes, and monitors all vehicle maintenance and repairs.
  • Manages the performance of the drivers by ensuring all Agency procedures are adhered to and initiating investigations when driver performances are reported to the Agency.
  • Coordinates transportation needs for all assigned programs.
  • Evaluates transportation vehicles and equipment for purchase by considering Agency needs.
  • Maintains vehicle files
  • Must be on call after hours and holidays in the event of a vehicle emergency or incident.
  • Attends all required meetings and trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to work well with ever changing priorities and or situations.
  • Must be a self-starter who can work well with people at all levels within the agency as well as external vendors.
  • High level of diplomacy when dealing with regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a face-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and a high level of motivation, professionalism, trustworthiness and ethics.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent. Associate's degree in a related field preferred. Applicable work experience may be substituted.
  • Prior experience in transportation management preferred.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office products required.
  • Valid Ohio Driver's License with less than 6 points.
  • Personal vehicle with proof of insurance required.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds.
  • One year experience in the field of supporting individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
